Not all trustees have completely ruled out a site that previously had been considered and rejected by a majority of the five-member board. Generally called the Del Dios/Dorn site, the 80-acre property is at Del Dios Highway and Via Rancho Parkway. See story from North County Times The League of Women Voters questions the necessity of a large new general purpose high school. "Research shows that smaller high schools in convenient locations produce a much better academic environment at a fraction of the cost" said LWV board member Margaret Liles. "The land acquisition cost is largely for the purpose of creating athletic facilities. Such facilities can easily be shared at existing locations."
