Diane Featured at San Diego Art Institute

Diane's first retrospective show will begin on February 21, 2008 at the San Diego Art Institute in San Diego's Balboa Park as 10 to 15 of her paintings will be specially featured along with the museum's regular exhibition of local artist works.

The paintings in this exhibition reflect two distinct themes in Diane’s work during the past several years: the Flamingo series and the Dead Dog series. The inspiration for each series originated from Diane’s personal life and then expanded into a template for her artistic expression. Diane started putting flamingos in her paintings in 1995 after many trips to the San Diego zoo with her one year old daughter. The “dead dog” idea came from numerous highway trips through the Mexican interior, where such carcasses are part of the every day landscape.
